It hit me. It all piled up right under my nose and I cracked. The dinners. The coffees. The errands. The birthdays. The emails. The workouts. The cooking. The sleep. The JOB. Every. Single. Hour. accounted for with plans. Plans to keep a running household. Plans to keep a healthy, social daughter. Plans to maintain friendships. But it was all too much. Too much at once.
What I needed was a break. What I needed was quiet time. What I needed was what I craved: to be alone. What I needed was to say NO.
It was either attending all of these plans overwhelmed and stressed or taking my life into my own hands by just saying no.
So I did it. We did it. My husband and I decided on a weekend to say NO to everything and see where the weekend took us. It took us to the park, it took us to the couch for a nap, it took us spontaneously shopping and enjoying every minute. It was the weekend exactly how it should be. Freaking magical!
The last few weeks I have talked to several friends who feel like they didn’t even have a weekend. I encourage them and you to try saying no. Take time to unwind in whatever way that means for you. Writing, walking, knitting, fishing, sitting by yourself in a coffee shop. Get comfortable advocating for yourself.
Guess what? People get it! Everyone is feeling like they need a break. Your friends and family will respect you and you may inspire them to just say no! I need a minute. Me time. It’s real. Take your space. For your health. For your well-being.
Peace, Love, Space
