What if I told you there is a new detox that doesn’t require drinking 4 green juices a day or a magical tea to eliminate toxins. This detox doesn’t involve any sweating or a hardcore workout. It is available to you right now, with the click of a button and it’s FREE!
It’s the Inbox Detox and it WORKS! I wrote about this once before but it came up again in a talk I gave on Thursday and it’s time for a reminder.
Think about your inbox. How many times a day do you receive junk mail? More importantly, how often do you stop a primary task to take a “quick peak” to see what www.yourfavewebsite.com has on sale today? They are distractions! There is a time for them but not right now.
According to the Energy Project, our primary task takes 25% longer to complete when we are multi-tasking. The People Equation says the average desk employee loses 2.1 hours per day to interruptions or distractions. Let’s get more done and get home faster. Here’s how…
1. UNSUBSCRIBE
Don’t just delete the spam, unsubscribe from it. Yes, there is a minimal upfront time investment on manually clicking the “opt out” button from each email, but it pays off in the long run. Imagine waking up in the morning only to emails that are from real people directed to you personally.
2. FILTER
What if the gilt.com and ESPN emails are important to you? Keep them! But filter them. Use Microsoft Outlook to set up folders and direct those emails based on domain to bypass your inbox and move directly to those folders. You won’t miss them, I promise.
3. SCHEDULE
Make a designated time for 15 minutes each day to check your fun folder with all the juicy deals for the day. Create time so those emails become a treat instead of a distraction. Watch your efficiency grow, your workload stabilize, and focus remain clear.
I love green juices as much as the next health nut but this detox is much easier, less expensive and clean. Make a plan, unsubscribe and get your inbox detox on!
Peace, Love, Sales,
Nadene
