Get out your teaspoons and aprons, folks- Sales are made with a combination of measured ingredients to give you the perfect, most delicious result. It’s NOT all cold calls. It’s NOT all email marketing. It’s NOT all LinkedIn requests to potential clients. 1-ingredient sales = Nasty cake. Let’s discuss the specifics, shall we?
2 teaspoons of raw Time Management
It’s 2:15pm on Monday afternoon. STOP what you are doing and ask, “Am I making the best use of this time right now?” If you are building a lead list or researching companies online, guess what? You can do that before 8:00am and after 5:00pm. Set up your day the night before with defined hours of dialing, conference calls, meetings. These 2 teaspoons sound small, but without them, you miss the full sales flavor!
1/4 cup organic new contacts
During the time you set aside to call customers every day, how many of those dials are on repeat? If you are dialing the same people because it’s comfortable, stop now! Get out of your comfort zone and meet some new peeps! Make it a goal to introduce yourself to 3 new potential clients a day. Organic, homegrown relationships are much more satisfying than processed, manufactured ones.
A sprinkle of Call Preparation
You pick up the phone to call that new customer but what’s your plan, man? Are you dialing to dial? Define what you want from the call before you pick up that phone. That is a commitment – you want your customer to commit to a next step with you. A next phone conversation, face-to-face meeting, or next steps via email. A hook where you can start the communication and show value. Sprinkling on the prep makes for a more beautiful end result.
Bake for 9 Hours at 350 degrees
Yeah, 9 hours of turning up the heat, baby! It takes focus, endurance, and passion to keep the sales rolling all day long. It’s easy to give in, zone out for an hour or two, get caught up in facebook or Words with Friends, but don’t! Every minute counts. It’s healthy to take a 10-minute break here and there so you don’t get BURNED. After 9 hours of baking these delicious ingredients, the final result is the sweet taste of a decadent pipeline and scrumptious sales.
