Share the Love. Build a Lasting Network. FREE.

When was the last time you’ve asked to talk to a Manager?

Maybe it was on the phone with American Airlines and they caught you on a bad day. Verizon rep wasn’t as friendly when you needed clarification on a bill? The Geek Squad agent was more like The Tool Squad and service levels were not up to par.

Today I’m telling you the BEST way to strengthen your network with a WIN-WIN-WIN.

At work, in life, we rely on others. Some go, some stay, and some come back. It’s important to build strong and respectable partnerships with those people who can help us perform our tasks. Personally, I rely on over 200 people at work, including a Credit Team, Vendor partners, my team peers, and my Sales Assistant. In life, I rely on many including everyone from my dry cleaning lady to my hair stylist.

All of these people have a choice: Who should I assist first?

I don’t know about you, but I want that person to be ME!

Why?

First assists my customers before my competition.

First gets me clean pressed pants on time so I can leave the dry cleaners before the rest of the herd and get on my day.

First means my vendor partner chooses to call me with a lead before the other guy.

How?

How do we make a personal impact and get in first without spending any money? Many ways but this post focuses on one: TELL THEIR BOSS.

When someone goes above and beyond for you, don’t just thank them and think, “Wow, if only everyone helped me like that!” Take the next step and spread the word. When the note (and make it an email or hand written, no phone call) gets back to the person who helped you, the will put you FIRST the next time. This gesture goes further than a box of candy or free T-shirt, this promotes their credibility within their organization.

WIN: For the person who helped you because it makes them look so good!

WIN: For their boss because it makes them feel confident in their team’s abilities and their own when they receive brag mail.

WIN: For YOU because you’re contact makes you a priority and you made a new contact with a Manager.

Next time, Talk to the Manager the FRESH way and create your own WIN-WIN-WIN. *Subscribe to FOTJ for Examples of Brag emails and Responses*
